Stiff rise in £9m NHS Viagra bill

THE cost of Viagra prescriptions has rocketed to �9million, it was revealed
yesterday.
Figures show Scotland's NHS bill for impotence pills has soared by almost 400
per cent since 2002.
But last night there was fury over the stiff price - at a time when the
cash-strapped service is rationing treatments for cancer and dementia.
Last year 35,000 men were given a �42 Viagra course for the price of a �3
prescription.
Eight years ago only 15,000 got the sex-life boost at a cost of �2.3million.
The bill now outstrips the �6million spent annually on penicillin.
One man in ten suffers impotence at some point in his life.
They can get Viagra on the NHS if they suffer from the likes of diabetes,
prostate cancer or a pelvic injury.
They can also get it if their impotence is causing them "severe distress".
Scottish Tory health spokeswoman Mary Scanlon said: "Given the poor
availability and access to new drugs for cancer and dementia patients, I
think it is time the Scottish Government decided whether impotence drugs are
of greater priority."

You know that internet spam selling Viagra? Well, that was my Dad. Apparently it is illegal to sell Viagra without a prescription. What kind of penalty will he get for selling a large amount of Viagra and Rogaine without a prescription? In California, if that makes a difference.
It could be equal to selling a drug on the streets. It is TOTALLY illegal and the Drug Enforcement Agency could get involved. Especially with Viagra which could have given someone negative side effects.
He is going to the slammer.
I did some additional research, one man received 12 months in jail. I guess it could be dependent on the Judge, but he is gone.
I decided to do some legal research on westlaw.

not from all those spam emails that get into your mailbox - I need someone who has first hand experience with a source that works and is reliable!
Boots now sell it over the counter (but you have to pay £28 for a medical and £22 for the 4 tablets)

Go TJ (Mexico), you won't need a prescription and it's very cheap too. You can try the Internet, but I recommend that you try websites from Canada and Mexico. U.S. websites ask for a prescription.

Intellian announces industry's first marine-grade dual band HDTV ...
I get a lot of press releases, as you might imagine. Some evoke fascination, some excitement, and some are…well…kind of confusing. Particularly when the technology isn't familiar to me in the first place!
That would have been the case with this press release from Intellian . First off, I wasn't familiar with the company or its products, and second, I didn't know a lot about satellite television.
But I got a chance to talk with Intellian's Aaron Friedman recently. We spent some time discussing satellite TV technology, the market, and how Intellian intends to set itself apart. I learned a lot.
So let's read the press release, and I'll chime in periodically as we go.
Well, yes. Ku and Ka band are quite different, and domes optimized for one just don't work for the other. It's likely that all dealers and installers, and many of Intellian's potential customers, would already be familiar with this problem, but I wasn't.
I learned that the high-bandwidth Ka band is quite a bit trickier to receive than the older Ku band, for two reasons. First, the Ka-band signal is broadcast at higher frequency (18.3-20.2 GHz) than a signal in the Ku-band (950-2150 MHz). Second, the beam-width of a signal in the Ka band is much narrower than the beam-width of a Ku-band signal. The result is that Ka band antennas require extremely sophisticated and precise tracking capabilities for use aboard moving vessels. Ka-band domes tend to be larger, heavier, and more expensive. Despite all that, though, they can't receive the programming off the Ku-band satellites.
